I was 12 when I first got my hands on one of these. All the other kids ran in terror when I came running their way. The biggest guns we had used up to that point were XP 150s. I ruled the neighborhood, for an entire summer. When we took on the Vermin in the 1st Vermin War, this was the biggest gun we had.
The enemy, who were made up of the local youth group and a few adults, had multiple 1000s, 2500s, and even a 2000! We put up a good fight, but they ended up over powering us. The purple cannon seemed giant to us kids, but it was nothing to our older opponents.
Over a decade later, no matter how old you are, this is still a great gun to have. Adults should be able to one hand this baby, and it’s just light enough for older kids to handle without too much difficulty. However, it’s the 40 ft range mark and 6x nozzle that really makes this thing worth owning. If your opponents are foolish enough to close the distance, this thing hits pretty hard and will discourage them from getting close again. Just remember to pump at every opportunity you get, since it has a short shot time and drains water quickly.
In elimination and score based games, the 1000 makes a great primary weapon. Perform a k mod to increase the distance your gun can shoot. In soakfests this gun also makes a great primary weapon, but you will want to be fighting alongside teammates armed with guns like the Vindicator, or high powered air pressure guns with longer shot times, as your low shot time is a liability in these types of games.
This gun has just 1 weak point – it’s pump. I highly recommend performing a pump reinforcement mod, because the pump shaft can easily snap if dropped. I also recommend making a custom strap since the strap that comes with it is not that comfortable. Other than that, this is a very reliable, well made, gun.
