The Hydrocannon is Super Soaker’s first CPS tech gun since being taken over by Nerf. If you were expecting typical Nerf SS performance you will be quite surprised. The Hydrocannon takes it to the opposite direction in the extreme. The Hydrocannon unloads its entire firing chamber in less than a third of a second. No matter how quickly you pull and release the trigger you are going to empty the entire pressure chamber with one blast, leaving you defenseless until you finish pumping it up again. With some guns you can get away with firing after only a few pumps, not so with the Hydrocannon, as the nozzle is just too large and the pump is simply too small. If the Hydrocannon was equipped with a pump as powerful as the XP 150’s it would only take 4 pumps to pressurize.
Those flaws aside, the Hydrocannon is still able to pack a pretty good punch. The best tactic for Hydrocannon users is to perform hit and run raids or ambushes. Get in and get a good solid close range hit on your opponent and then pump rapidly as you run away to plot your next attack. Users already familiar with the Arctic Blast and to a lesser extent the Flash Flood should already be familiar with these types of tactics.
Due to the previously discussed limitations it’s best to use the Hydrocannon only in soakfests, unless you plan on modding. Duke Soak ‘Em has several good mods that will increase the performance of the Hydrocannon.
