Review

This is the original Super Soaker! These things are still pretty easy to find on ebay. Price fluctuates like crazy and SS 50s typically sell from anywhere between $10 and $100. I’ve seen NIB packs with the extra tank carrier sell for over $200.  Performance wise, the old SS 50 got eclipsed way back in the early ’90s with the introduction of larger classics and eventually the XP line.

Sadly enough things have come back around full circle in 2013 the SS 50 could easily go toe to toe and overpower the latest Nerf Super Soakers. In fact, the SS 50, then called the Power Drencher, or just Super Soaker, became immensely popular because pneumatic (air) pressure was much more powerful than motorized waterguns. Ironically enough, 25 years later Super Soaker has largely gone to producing the same style of more expensive yet less powerful motorized blasters that it put out of business in the late ’80s and early ’90s.
